Enhanced and Dependable Site Connectivity Across All Transport Methods

Helios’s edge SD-WAN device, the Helios Socket, combines various internet connections such as cable, fiber, broadband, or cellular into a unified logical tunnel. Helios intelligently directs application traffic across available links, considering factors like application profile, priority, and link status. The integration of Helios’s SD-WAN software with multiple redundant transports effectively counters link blackouts and brownouts, guaranteeing continuous network service that was once exclusive to private connections.

Guaranteed Performance for Mission-Critical Applications

With Helios SD-WAN, your applications’ traffic is routed and prioritized based on assigned Quality of Service (QoS) policy. Helios provides a customizable application prioritization policy to ensure latency-sensitive applications such as voice, video, and remote desktops are always given network access ahead of bandwidth-intensive background applications such as backups. To further improve application performance, Helios overcomes packet loss on the last mile internet connection and across the middle mile. TCP acceleration improves network efficiency and speed, reducing data transfer times. With link resiliency, application prioritization and acceleration, and packet loss mitigation, Helios enhances the user experience and maximizes productivity when using business-critical applications.

Last Mile Monitoring and Troubleshooting Monitoring

The state of last mile connections is crucial for diagnosing performance and connectivity issues. The Helios Socket automatically monitors the quality of the connected internet circuits by continuously measuring their performance outside the SD-WAN tunnel. Detailed analytics over time, including packet loss, round-trip time, and the number of hops, are provided to swiftly pinpoint performance degradation in a specific internet service circuit. Ongoing degradation of internet connections can prompt customers to switch last mile providers or upgrade their connectivity setups.

Live Monitoring of SD-WAN Performance and Usage

This allows Helios administrators to view a range of metrics such as jitter, packet loss, throughput, and distance in real-time for specific locations and/or applications. This real-time view facilitates the swift identification of potential root causes, including incorrect application identification and prioritization, high bandwidth consumption, and periodic congestion.

A Service Level Agreement (SLA)-Supported, High-Speed, Global Private Network Backbone

Global organizations rely on dependable long-distance transports, often necessitating the maintenance of global MPLS contracts alongside SD-WAN.

Helios SD-WAN is directly linked to Helios’s global private backbone, constructed using multiple SLA-backed tier-1 providers that interconnect all of Helios’s PoPs worldwide. Helios creates a predictable middle mile that outperforms the public internet at a fraction of the MPLS cost. Helios provides your organization with immediate access to a global private network, enabling you to connect branches, clouds, and even mobile users anywhere in the world, including China, with the resilience and performance required by modern applications.

Rapid and Easy Setup with Zero-Touch Deployment

The Helios Socket installation is straightforward and doesn’t need device pre-configuration, facilitating true zero-touch deployment. Sockets can be sent to a remote branch and quickly set up by local staff without specialized expertise. When connected to power and the internet, the Socket automatically appears in the Helios Management Application, ready for site assignment. The Helios Socket is entirely managed from the cloud, and all relevant policies are automatically downloaded. The zero-touch model also applies to high-availability setups, automatically configuring HA-pairs when two Helios Sockets are assigned to the same site.
